Well, unfortunately the rattery had a bit of a disappointing winter. Frosty and Dash, who we paired at the end of December, were unable to conceive. Iris conceived a litter with Falcon, but unfortunately this ended in a medical emergency that resulted in Iris getting spayed; none of the pups survived.
But - we're getting back on the saddle and giving it another go: we will be doing three pairings in March! Frosty will be paired with Snowfox, a beautiful champagne buck from Firethorn Ridge Rattery, to begin work on our line of Silverfawns. Narwhal will be paired with Megalodon, who has already sired a litter of wonderful ratties, to continue our Patched line. And finally, Raven will be paired with Barracuda in a test breeding to suss out some genetic questions that we're not 100% sure on: namely, is the blue in our lines Russian blue, American blue, or both; and is the fluff on rats in this line actually velveteen, or is it rex? So be prepared for some interesting babies to pop out of that pairing!
