Update to our African Soft Fur Breeding Practices and Goals

Updated: Apr 29, 2023

We're trying a new breeding method for the African Soft Furs! Conventional wisdom says that these animals don't tolerate introductions past the baby stage, but working towards true pet quality means having pets that tolerate and bond with newcomers.

Most African Soft Fur breeders use a colony method, where one male and a few females stay together for life. We are moving to a new method, where males and females are kept separately and introduced for mating.

Our first foray is proving successful! Treasure and Nutmeg were introduced three days ago, and after a few days of space, they are cuddling up to each other. Hopefully this pairing will produce beautiful and well tempered babies!
